The Journey:
From the Ego Self to the True Self

Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

As Kenneth makes clear in this program, the Course challenges everything we believe about ourselves, beginning with the self we think we are. Kenneth discusses how it is no accident that we seem to find ourselves as separate, individual bodies, each with our own special identity, living in a world that seems to present us with one problem after another, a world in which we try to make our way against what at times can feel like overwhelming odds. And yet, nothing is at seems to be, the world being based on a great self-deception. Kenneth uncovers and explores the Course’s teachings on the purpose behind our lives, which provides the key to our release from our limiting concepts of ourselves that we have made our reality, so that we can then begin the journey back Home to the Self that is our true Identity. This journey can be a gentle one if we allow our inner teacher Jesus to guide us with each step. Many audience questions are included, with Kenneth using them to elaborate on the ideas he is presenting and to explore their implications for our practice of Course principles.

The Decision Maker:
"Throned Above Fate"

Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

Over his many years of teaching, Kenneth has come up with a number of concepts and terms to help focus our attention on some central ideas in the Course. Perhaps most important and helpful is the concept of the decision maker, the term Kenneth uses to identify the you that Jesus is speaking to on nearly every page of the Course. The concept is critical because it emphasizes our only real power and function in the dream of separation that we have made real, and our only real identity in our sleeping, dreaming split mind. Understanding our identity as a decision-making mind and not a body, with only two meaningful alternatives to choose between—the ego or the Holy Spirit—makes the process of healing very simple, although for most of us not easy. Each personifies the two different ways of interpreting the tiny, mad idea of separation, as either a serious sin or a silly mistake. One interpretation roots us deeper into the dream of suffering and pain and the other leads us gently toward awakening. Choosing between the two is truly the only decision that matters that we have the power to make in the dream. Kenneth's aim in this program is to help us deepen our understanding of the centrality of this recognition for our healing journey, as we become increasingly aware of just who it is we are, traveling on this journey back Home.
